New Black Screen Overlay Effect | Effect 01

What Is The Overlay Effect :-

Video or film overlays are motion graphics that can be laid over your clips to add a variety of looks, such as light leaks, film noise, and smoke.

Video Overlays often come as .mov files with a transparent background (also known as an Alpha Channel), making them surprisingly easy to add to your sequence.

Video overlay effects are hugely valuable for editors of all skill levels. And fortunately, overlays are not difficult to understand. The name says it all – they are clips that are simply “layered over” other clips to add a little something extra to the footage.

If you’re working on season-themed footage, you may wish to add some falling snow or rain in there. Lighting overlays can be used to cultivate a particular mood, such as romantic or eerie. Overlays can also be animated, which stands out a bit more. It all depends on your reason for using one.

There are tons of free video overlays out there. Lighting effects, glitches, patterns, text, and more — if you can imagine it, there is probably an overlay for it. We’ve put together some of our favorites for you to download for free today. Check them out!

Overlay in KineMaster are like clipart or a sticker which can be added in a video clip as a layer. Most likely to be Emojis or Emoticons. But then there are a few overlays which offer live actions such as blinking, transforming etc.

Light Leaks

Light Leaks are probably the most common form of video overlay, and you can get similar still effects for photos.

They give your footage additional layers of light from various angles, providing even more depth to your projects.

Furthermore, with a little Opacity keyframing, Light Leaks overlays can be used as transitions between clips, creating stunning lens flare based movement from shot to shot.

Light leaks are also perfect for adding emphasis to the overall beauty in a shot or creating a vintage, nostalgic, or dream-like quality. Similarly, light effects can be used in music videos and showreels to develop a unique style for the composition.

How to use overlay in KineMaster?

In order to use overlay in KineMaster Pro Video Editor. Follow the instructions provided below.

Step 1 : Open KineMaster along with few clips of yours.

In order to start adding overlays, you’ll need to have few video clips. If you do not have any videos at the moment, you can still use any image of your own as a video clip. Overlays will work the same on both an image clip and a video clip.

Step 2 : Open Overlay Menu.

Tap on Layer>Overlay (the interface changes). You can now select any overlay of your choice or you can also download more by tapping on “Get more” option. Or if you just want to quickly add an overlay, tap on Neon Delights and select any sticker from the set. You will then notice a big blank square box on your video. Well that’s the overlay but the reason why it’s blank is because the animation haven’t been played yet. Tap on the top right check mark (✓) in order to insert the overlay.

Step 3 : Make all necessary adjustments to your overlay.

As mentioned earlier above. You can make multiple changes to your overlay by adding custom Animations, text, and pretty much customise your overlay to make it suitable for your video.

Step 4 : Preview your progress.

You can now preview your video clip by tapping on the play button. Once your video plays, you’ll get a clear idea on how the overlay works in KineMaster. You could also add musics in your video to make it sound cool.
